Achieving Excellence Consulting, the new standard of business excellence
Achieving Excellence Consulting, Inc. wants to help businesses share their gifts with the community at large. Our featured vendor, Henna By Amaija, provides henna tattoos using freehand artwork and not stencils. This artform is often learned in a culture that teaches this skill from very young, such as 3 years old. Amaija Fields is the owner and currently 16, her self-taught skills learned 7 years ago is late in relation. She prides herself on satisfying her customers by the questions she asks to learn what expression of beauty will accentuate them. She has no problem making corrections if necessary and invites such means to show the level of care to her customers.
Amaija has educated herself about the use of henna. She has found that the black henna uses black hair dye that is harmful causing severe burns because of PPD that is found it in. She chooses to mix her own henna, but when she does not she uses jaguar henna which is natural. It is brown, but stains black. This henna comes from the Genipa americana, aka jagua fruit. Her excellent customer service goes beyond the beautiful design and caters to the health of her customers.
Henna is more than an artform, for the artist it is a way of life. Amaija brings authenticity to her art by studying not only the art, but the culture and its meaning. She takes pride in her lack of formal training but states,
“I just learned it on my own and figured out how to work with henna. Since you’re piping every detail by hand, to know the pressure you need for different designs or lines, what consistency for different types of work, how to mix your own properly.”
We are thankful to have business owners that are adding to their skill set and ACHIEVING EXCELLENCE!!!
